The Humanist rallied against the increase on the retirement age. (Spain)

On last Tuesday around 15,000 people demonstrated in the City of Madrid along with other cities. People wanted to reject the Spanish government plan to increase the retirement age up to 67 years old. This is the first demonstration that the United Left and the Humanist party have participated against Rodriguez Zapatero policies. The unions organized this rally.

The humanist party has join the denunciation defending a retirement system that should not depend on the years of contribution to the retirement fond. Retirement should depend on the age of the worker or the worker exhaustion related to the job that he or she performs. The Humanist party press release supports a Retirement plan funded with the state general budget and not through the social security system that is fiscally in trouble.

The participants of the demonstration agreed on the message inviting the government to act. It shall increase the income and stop the cuts. On the closing discourses the General secretary: Candido Mendez of the UGT has said that the reform bill is a threat.

Many organizations are calling for a general strike, but not even the high unemployment rates in Spain, have made the big unions called for this measure. Meanwhile Greece already called for the General strike.

The Humanist party have design a campaign called “ They shall paid the crisis” Condemning politicians and financial representatives as the real responsible of the actual situation. And they are the one to be paying.
